Christmas Food Art

Today I'm sharing a quick post about the fun food art project that I was a part of for FreshKids.com. I was hired along with 24 other food artists to make a healthy snack for kids with a Christmas or winter theme. Please look at their cute Advent calendar see all the wonderful food art - several of my friends are contributors as well, like  Creative Food, My Epicurean Adventures, Mamabelly, Eats Amazing, Bento Monsters,  How About Cookie, and Bento Days. This is my contribution:

A fun project I created for the freshkids.com advent calendar - visit my blog to get the link to see all 24 !

We are all featured on their Advent Calendar, with each one of us having our own day (I am on day 13).

Fresh Kids is a company that I can really support! When you visit their website, you will find some great, healthy products perfect for kids lunches ( I really want to get my hands on some of their gluten free star shaped pretzels!) with slogans like: "Healthy is the New Cool!" and "We Believe in a Happy and Healthy World"  We think alike, Fresh Kids and I  🙂

WHAT IS IN THIS LUNCH:

  • The sandwich is cashew butter on wheat bread ( for my son who doesn't have gluten issues). I cut out the fireplace opening with a round cookie cutter before I assembled the sandwich, then cut off the top off the sandwich and turned it on its side to make the mantle.
  • The fire is fruit leather ( the flames), and pretzel sticks ( the logs). I used kitchen shears to cut the fruit leather into flame shapes.
  • The stockings are apples that I cut with a mini stocking cookie cutter ( shown below)
  • The wreath is made of sugar snap peas, with cream cheese in the center. The berries on the wreath are pomegranate seeds.
